An interesting thing happened yesterday in my Music Theory and Appreciation class. I introduced their end of semester project, which is to write lyrics, and compose a melody and add a simple accompaniment. Well, it was practically a mutiny. They just want a test...they don't want the project. I realize now, that I could have introduced the project better, but I was very surprised at the response from the majority of the class...anyone else have this experience?

  1. Yes- the first time I introduced a play writing unit for my Gate class 3 years ago- they did mutiny! I won the battle- but did I win the war? I wasn't sure at the time. Well, it was better year 2- and this year my current class LOVED the unit- we even did staged reading for Leek & Capelli's classes last month as part of their Mid Term. Live, Learn & Improve!
